Leah Estelle Brothers

July 10, 1927 — April 13, 2024

Sulphur

Leah Estelle Brothers was born on July 10, 1927, in Bristow, Oklahoma, to William Jasper and Geneva Estella Scott. She grew up in Sulphur, Oklahoma, attended Oklahoma State university and achieved a bachelor’s degree in education. She met a charming man in college, Gilbert Brothers, and married him on December 19, 1947. Leah went on to have four boys. Gilbert and Leah retired in 1992 from 41 years of church ministry and moved back to Leah's hometown of Sulphur. After only a year Gilbert passed from cancer, leaving Leah to her church, family, and close friends. In 2018 She moved to Georgetown, Texas to be closer to family and then again in 2024 to Flower Mound, Texas.

Leah was a strong woman who demonstrated her faith through action. She was always deeply involved in church leadership and especially women's topics. She was very active in the United Methodist Women organization including leadership at the district and national level.

As well as a love of flowers and arranging them, she had a beautiful soprano voice that was still strong to the end. She was still singing when going into the ER two days before passing away. She died peacefully on April 13, 2024, at the age of 96.

Leah leaves two sons, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons and one grandchild.
