Lonnie Aaron Ozbirn

February 12, 1948 — August 16, 2023

Lonnie Aaron Ozbirn, 75, was born on February 12, 1948, in Sulphur, to the late Fred & Ida Pearl (Price) Ozbirn. He passed from this life on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at his home, north of Sulphur, following a battle with cancer.


Lonnie grew up in the Hickory/Sulphur area. After graduating from Sulphur High School, he served in the Oklahoma National Guards. Lonnie spent his career working as a welder in the oil field industry. After retiring from welding in 2015, he gained employment with the Chickasaw Nation, where he worked in security until the time of his death.


Throughout his life, Lonnie was an avid fan of rodeo and participated in team roping events as often as he could. He was a lifetime member of the Sulphur Round-Up Club, as well as a member of the Chickasaw Warrior Society. Lonnie was known to be quiet the jokester among his friends and family.


Survivors include his loving wife Julie; son, Shane Aaron West & wife Heather of Wynnewood; two daughters, Misty Rich of Havasu City, AZ, and Lori Luttrell & husband David of Waco, TX; stepson, Tanner Winton of Ada; five grandchildren, Stasha Patel & husband Pritesh, Micah Rich & fiancé Ernie Duran, Jakob Luttrell, Dakota West, and Cree West & significant other, Bryce Koone; six great-grandchildren, Presha, Zara, Creek, Magnolia, Riggin, and Bodie; one brother, Carl Ozbirn & wife Darlene of Sulphur; half-sisters, Cindy Barrow and Betty Bailey; half-brothers Chris Ozbirn and Don Ozbirn; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.


In addition to his parents, Lonnie was preceded in death by three sisters, Norma D. Williams, Freda Sue Ozbirn, and Barbara Jean Allen; as well as a half-brother, Gary Fred Ozbirn.


A celebration of Lonnie’s life will be at 10:00 AM, on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Chickasaw Community Center in Ada.


Services are “entrusted to” Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
