Marialice Aneal Payne

Graveside services for Marialice A. Payne will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating.

Marialice was born August 27, 1940, in Ponca City, OK, to the late Roger & Sarah (Gurly) Sitton. She died on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Sulphur, at the age of eighty-five.

Marialice grew up in Oklahoma City. After graduating from U.S. Grant High School, her father bribed her into attending college with a brand-new red Thunderbird convertible. She confessed that the car was worth her brief time in college.

Marialice married Jimmy Barlow and from this union two children were born, Jennifer and Mike. Later, on July 6, 1977, she married Robert Knox "Bob" Payne in Durant, OK. Together, she and Bob resided in several states as he followed his career in restaurant management.

In the mid 1980's the Payne family settled in Davis, where Bob taught typing and keyboarding at Davis High School and Marialice coached twirling. Known for being an excellent twirler, she was a member of the prestigious Royal Rangerette Twirlers during high school. The love for this sport drove Marialice to coach countless area girls and compete nationwide. She and Bob were both highly active with the Davis Band Boosters, always assisting whenever called upon.

In addition to her twirling, Marialice owned and operated Kid's Corner Clothing and Consignment Shop in Davis from 1997 until retiring in 2002. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping and stopping at every yard sale she came across. She also enjoyed spending time with her high school classmates as they gathered each month. She was member of the Midway Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Smith of Davis; three grandchildren, Christopher James Smith, Summer Nicole Hanson & husband Clayton, and Michael Thomas Smith; as well as five great-grandchildren, Stephon Smith, Emery Smith, Carson Hanson, Knoxlee Hanson, and Adilynn Hanson.

In addition to her parents, Marialice was preceded in death by her husband Bob Payne, and her son James Michael "Mike" Barlow.

Services are "Entrusted To" HALE'S Funeral Home of Davis, OK.
