Betty was born on February 18, 1926 in Wynnewood, OK to Melvin and Anna (Patrick) Wheeler. She died on November 13, 2014 in Norman, at the age of 88 years 8 months & 25 days. Betty married Erman Moore in Jan 1943. He preceded her in death in September 1944. To this union was born a son, Randal Erman Moore, on December 10, 1943. She married James Robert Davis on January 9, 1947. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1968. This union brought another son, Larry James Davis, on November 18, 1949. Others preceding her in death include her parents and sisters, Ida Tidwell and Christine Martin.
Betty is survived by two sons, Randy Moore & wife Billee of Davis and Larry Davis & wife Susan of Minco, four grandchildren: Mandee McKinney of Durant, Taylor Moore of Davis, Julie Biggerstaff of McKinney, TX, and Barry Davis of Newcastle; and seven great grandchildren, Aaron, Chloe, Gavin, Brooke, Carlee, Preston and Carson.
Betty was known by many as "Granny." She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a homemaker, one of the best cooks around, and always had a large garden. She always had a meal for anyone who came by, and over the years that was a lot. She and James owned a gas station in Wynnewood in which she helped until his death. She worked one day (and one day only) at the nursing home. Only she could tell of that experience! Betty also worked for Paul and Ruby Fine at The Clothing & Bargain Store for 2 years. She later went to work for her son, Randy, at the City Drug where she was employed for 16 years. After retiring, she continued cooking, canning, gardening, and playing lots of dominoes with her friend, Macy. Her final years were spent at Burford Manor. She made many friends there.
She was a giver! Hard worker! Very independent! She never would ask anyone for anything. It was always, "What can I do for you?" Special and wonderful are not big enough words to describe this lady.
