Melvin Earl Lindell

October 24, 1937 — July 5, 2021

Melvin Earl Lindell was born October 24, 1937, in Los Angeles, CA to the late Holger F. & Dorothy M. (Neimann) Lindell. He died Monday, July 5, 2021, in Mill Creek, at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 11 days.

Melvin grew up in California. Following high school, he served in the United States Navy from August 18, 1955, until he received an honorable discharge on August 25, 1958. Following his service to our country, Melvin returned home and earned a bachelor’s degrees in accounting and finance. Later he earned a master’s degree in accounting. He spent several years working for Litton Industries, where he developed the first multi-layered circuit board.

After residing in California for 40 years of his life, Melvin decided the state had too many people, so in 1978 he and his wife Helen decided to move to Oklahoma. They made their home in Mill Creek, living near Helen’s sister. While living in there, he worked for Tim Stinson building houses. After a few years, they moved to Oklahoma City, where he worked as the Director of the Audit Division for the Oklahoma Tax Commission. After retiring from the tax commission, they returned to Mill Creek where he enjoyed riding dirt bikes and fishing, as well as practicing the art of Tae Kwan Do and Karate. His love for the arts drove him to earn two black belts, as well as purchase the Black Dragon Dojo in Sulphur, just to keep it operational for others interested in the arts.

Survivors include his son, Greg Lindell & wife Debbie of Sulphur; one sister, Darlene Lindell of Georgia; and one brother, Kenneth Lindell of Navada.

In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by one sister, Charlotte Lindell; brother, Jerry Lindell; and his wife, Helen Lindell.

Services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday July 17, 2021 at the Memorial Free Will Baptist Church with Tim Stinson officiating.
