Michael Keith Cottrell

Michael Keith Cottrell was born September 1, 1975, in Pauls Valley, OK, to Dennis Keith and Cathy Lynn (Bonham) Cottrell. He died at his home, Thursday, September 24, 2026, surrounded by love. Michael was 51 years, and 23 days old.

Michael was a lifelong resident of Sulphur. After graduating from Sulphur High School, Class of 1995, he continued his education at Murray State College, majoring in computer technology. His career was centered around his degree and included employment with Dell Computers in Oklahoma City and later with the Chickasaw Nation at the Winstar World Casino.

Michael was a highly intelligent, as well as curious individual. He had a fascination with Bigfoot and enjoyed playing video games. He was a lifelong fan of professional wrestling, with Stone Cold Steve Austin being his favorite wrestler. Michael was known for his silliness, which he shared right up to his death. Even when his life became incredibly difficult, his wonderful sense of humor remained. His humor, laugh, interests and all the little things that made him unique will be deeply missed.

Michael shared a 25-year love with his life partner, Sara Hector. Their life together was filled with fond memories, laughter, extreme challenges, and a love that remained steadfast. Sara stood strongly by his side through his final days, making certain Michael knew just what he meant to her.

Survivors include his beloved Sara; one son, Clayton Cottrell & wife Jordan of Sulphur; his mother, Cathy Cottrell of Davis; two grandchildren, Lucas and Ryleigh Cottrell; one brother, Scott Cottrell & wife Monica of Konawa; one aunt, Regeana McCracken; two uncles, Chuck Bonham & wife Lisa, and Kevin McCracken & wife Dorothy; as well as numerous other extended family members.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Dennis Keith Cottrell; maternal grandparents, Lyndol Gene & Lou Ann Bonham; paternal grandparents, Jessie & Bessie Cottrell; uncles, Kevin Bonham, Marvin McCracken, Gary Don Cottrell and Jerry Wayne Cottrell; as well as his cousin, Yancy Garrett Cottrell, whom he thought of as a brother..

Funeral services for Michael will be held 2:00PM, Monday, September 28, 2026, at the Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1503 W 12th St, in Sulphur. Mr. Jimmy Honeycutt will officiate the service. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery, in Sulphur.

The family will receive friends from 2-4:00PM, on Sunday, September 27th, at Hale's Funeral Home, in Sulphur.
