Peggy Ruth Callis - McCollum

January 18, 1949 — February 15, 2026

Peggy Ruth McCollum was born on January 18, 1949, in Sulphur, Oklahoma, to Ira Eugene Collins and May Ruth Collins. She married Earnest "Michael" Callis on February 3, 1966, and together they had two children, Charles Michael Callis and Robbie Gene Callis. She later married the love of her life, the "carrots to her peas," Kerry Dan McCollum, on October 26, 1992.

Peggy was a licensed beautician. She worked for many years at the Kerr-McGee Wynnewood Refinery. She also co-owned a donut shop in Pauls Valley and worked several other jobs through the years to help meet the needs of her family. She lived in Oklahoma, California, and Pennsylvania, but spent most of her years in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, which she proudly called home.

Peggy is survived by her son, Chuck Callis & wife Eva; sisters, Margaret Lamb, Norma Akers & husband Leon, Leta (Castleberry) Keck & husband Don, Brenda Moles & husband Donald, and Ruth Ann Blanton & husband David; and her brother, James Collins. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Susan Coble & husband Robbie, Shannon Russell & husband George, and Sheena Ellett & husband Race; and grandsons, Edward Callis and Ty Callis. She was blessed with great-grandchildren, Michael Ellett, Jordan Callis, Trinity Callis, Aubrey Coble, Zakary Russell, Kyeson Coble, Abigail Russell, and Ivy Callis, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her one-day-old son, Robbie Gene Callis; her husband, Kerry Dan McCollum; her parents, Ira Eugene Collins and May Ruth Collins; and siblings, Ted Collins, Leroy Collins, Bonnie Penick, and Harold Collins.

Peggy enjoyed going to the lake, sewing, reading, puzzle books, and cooking, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was known for sharing what she had and loving her family deeply. Peggy especially cherished her sister trips, with their brother often tagging along. She also loved coloring with her grandkids and great-grandkids, and she kept coloring books, crayons, and fun toys in a cabinet under her TV just for them.

She will be missed here on earth, and the stories she told-and the many stories told about her-will keep her memory alive in the hearts of her family. Peggy passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on February 15, 2026.

A celebration of life for Peggy will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Church, 7126 US-177, Sulphur, Oklahoma 73086. She will be laid to rest at Dolberg Cemetery.
