Peggy Carol Vantreese

December 5, 1944 — January 21, 2021

Peggy Carol (Kahlor) Vantreese was born December 5, 1944 in Sulphur, OK to the late Alvin Lee & Helen (Hager) Kahlor. She passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 in Edmond, at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 16 days.

Peggy grew up in Sulphur, graduating from Sulphur High School. She lived a short time in Ada and Edmond, but for most of her life, she lived in Sulphur. Peggy spent 40+ years owning and operating Peggy’s Day Care Center in Sulphur. She enjoyed shopping, watching old westerns on tv and going out to eat. Peggy loved going to the Chickasaw National Recreational Area and continually encouraged others to visit the park and experience its natural beauty. She was a longtime member of the Crossway First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Scott Hickman & wife Laura of Skiatook, OK; daughter, LaGina (Hickman) Unsell & husband Jerry of Edmond; three granddaughters, Mariah (Hickman) Kelly & husband Jacob of Alva, OK, and Darby Hickman and Gracie Hickman, both of Skiatook; one grandson, Hayden Unsell of Edmond; five great-grandchildren, Cainan Hickman, Hudson Mathis, Easton Kelly, Selah Kelly and Kyler Kelly; as well as one sister, Louise (Kahlor) Gentry & husband Harold of Sulphur.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Vantreese in 2018.

Services will be held 10:00AM Saturday, January 30, 2021 at the Crossway First Baptist Church in Sulphur with Ralph Hickman officiating. Private burial will be held at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.
