Phillis Gail Prewitt

November 27, 1947 — August 18, 2025

Phillis Gail Prewitt was born November 27, 1947, in Purcell, OK, to the late James William and Thelma Florine (Glover) Buchanan. She passed from this life on Monday, August 18, 2025, in Hennepin, at the age of 77.

Phillis grew up in Purcell. In her final years of high school, she began working at a nursing home in Norman. She married the late Odis Tippit, and after seven years of marriage, a daughter, Jamie, was born to this union. The family then moved to Pauls Valley where she was a stay-at-home mom for several years, prior to working at Loves Convenience Store and Glow Light. In 1981, she married the late Lennard Prewitt, happily receiving a bonus son, Ruben. Later, a daughter, Eulalia was born to this union.

Phillis was a true caregiver at heart. She had a way of putting the needs of others before her own and was like a mom and a friend to many of her neighbors. She cherished the simple joys of life, like Black Friday shopping with her daughter Jamie and daughter-in-law Lori, which often included a few memorable Starbucks stops along the way. Her greatest joy, however, was her grandchildren. They were her hobbies, her heart, and her delight-and they always knew that the smell of bacon meant sneaking over to Grandma's house. She enjoyed working puzzles, sharing chalupas with her little dog, Daisy.

For those who knew Phillis, her faith was unmistakable. She reflected the love of Jesus in the way she lived and the way she cared for others. She was a light in this world, and her warmth and kindness will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved her.

Survivors include her three children, Jamie Gutierrez & husband Lucho of Hennepin, Ruben Prewitt of Healdton, and Eulalia Mills of Pauls Valley; ten grandchildren, Joseph Gutierrez & wife Mercedes, Joshua Gutierrez and wife Alexis, Jesse Gutierrez & wife Torree, Kyra Gutierrez, Kenneth Gutierrez, Kalei Mills, Jaden Mills, Rylee Mills, Skyler Prewitt & wife Hannah, and Zoey Prewitt; five great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Kyler, Kayden, Emma and Kyser; as well as two brothers, Ronnie Buchanan & wife Rexann and James Buchanan & wife Vickie. Phillis was anxiously awaiting the birth of her sixth great-grandchild, "Baby Boy Gutierrez"!

In addition to her parents and husband, Phillis was preceded in death by one grandson, Kyle Prewitt; son-in-law, Justin Mills; and sister, Shirley Bonner.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Arbuckle Pentecostal Church, in Wynnewood, with Pastor Matthew Napper officiating. Interment will follow at the Hennepin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6PM, Wednesday evening, at the funeral home.

Services are "entrusted to" Hale's Funeral Home of Davis.
