Randal Erman “Randy” Moore was born December 10, 1943, in Pauls Valley, OK, to Erman and Mary Betty (Wheeler) Moore. He passed from this life on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Norman, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 12 days. Randy and the former Ms. Billee J. Roper were united in marriage on August 20, 1965, in Davis. To this union were born two children, Mandee and Taylor.
At nine months of age, Randy’s father, Erman, was tragically killed. Shortly thereafter, Randy and his mother were blessed when James Davis came into their lives. At the age of four, Randy, along with his mom and dad, moved to Davis. He attended Davis Public Schools, graduating from Davis High School, Class of 1961. Following high school, Randy attended Oklahoma State University. In the summer of 1963, he left OSU and completed his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy at the University of Oklahoma in 1966, later receiving his Doctorate. Randy began his career as a pharmacist with Star Pharmacy in Norman, prior to working at the Humpty Pharmacy in Ardmore. In 1970, Randy purchased The City Drug of Davis. He was a huge advocate for small town pharmacies and worked hard to support this group. As a man with a true servant’s heart, Randy cared for his customers and served the Davis community and surrounding area for forty plus years, prior to retiring in 2010. He was always ready with a good joke or a funny story to brighten someone’s day. His laugh was one you could not forget, and his constant smile was quite infectious. Throughout his career he was known as “everybody’s friend and some people’s doctor!” Although the drug store had posted operating hours, he took care of people, no matter what time, day or night, when he was needed.
Randy was a true pillar of Davis, never once forgetting his roots or where he came from. His love and devotion to the Davis community was never wavering. He fulfilled many civic duties during his life, including serving as a past president of the Davis Kiwanis Club, past member and president of the Davis Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Davis Alumni Association where he was inducted into the Alumni Hall of Fame, a founding member of the Davis Public Schools Foundation, served on the Davis Planning Board, the First National Bank of Davis Board of Directors, and the Murray County Ambulance Board. Randy received many achievement awards and certificates of recognition for his service and support given to many clubs, associations, and the pharmaceutical industry, including the prestigious Wyeth Bowl of Hygeia Community Service Award in 2004. This award was given by the Oklahoma Pharmacists Association and selected by his peers throughout the state. Others include The Drug Topic Honor Roll of Outstanding Independent Pharmacies, The American College of Apothecaries, Professional Compounding Center of America, and Honorary Membership of the Davis FFA Chapter.
Just as Randy was loyal and devoted to the Davis Community, he was the same with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his beloved wife, his children, and entire family. For thirty plus years he served as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon at the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Davis. Most recently, he was a devoted member of the Midway Hill Baptist Church. Randy was always incredibly supportive of his children and grandchildren. Not only did he love to see his own family succeed in life, but he also loved to see all young people achieve their life goals and succeed. He was a constant source of encouragement; always encouraging them to pursue a lifetime of education and career achievements.
Although Randy was always busy helping others, he did have a few hobbies he enjoyed such as hunting, fishing, gardening, and listening to music. He was an avid reader. He was known to buy newspapers all along their vacation routes and read them cover to cover. When asked why he did this, he replied, “if I’m ever asked about it, I will know!” Randy also enjoyed cooking and held the title of “Grill Master” around the Moore family.
Simply put, Randy Moore was great man. He was one that had his priorities right in life. He loved and served God, he loved and supported his beloved family and genuinely cared for his neighbors and friends. The positive impact of Randy will live on forever in the heart of the Davis Community and all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish Randy’s memory include his loving wife Billee; daughter, Mandee McKinney & husband Hank of Durant; son, Taylor Moore & wife Shellie of Davis; three grandchildren, Aaron McKinney & wife Chandler of Granbury, TX, Chloe Micalizzi & husband Mark, of Granbury, TX, and Gavin Moore & fiancé Shalynn Hudson of Davis; two great-grandsons, Brock McKinney and Knox Micalizzi; one brother, Larry Davis & wife Susan of Tuttle; sister in law, Vickie Jan Coppenbarger & husband Buster of Davis; as well as several nieces and nephews. Randy was anxiously awaiting the birth of his first great-granddaughter, Andie Rose Micalizzi, in July.
Randy was preceded in death by his father, Erman Moore, his mother, Mary Betty Davis, and his dad, James Davis.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Randy Moore will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 2:00PM, at the Midway Hill Baptist Church, east of Davis. Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr will officiate the service. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be made to the Midway Hill Baptist Church Building fund or the Davis Public Schools Foundation.
