Ricky Ray Roady

Funeral services for Ricky Ray Roady will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, September 11, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Davis with the Reverend Claud Williams and Pastor Alan McCoy officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

Ricky was born on December 18, 1950, in Sulphur, to the late Troy B. "Sam" and Dorothy Jo (Thomas) Roady. He passed away, following a lengthy battle with cancer, on Monday, September 7, 2026, in Sulphur, at the age of 75. Ricky and the former Miss Anita Louise Fogle united in marriage on February 8, 1974, in Gainesville, TX. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2016.

Ricky was a life-long resident of Davis. After graduating from Davis High School, Class of 1969, he was drafted into the United States Army, stationed in Germany, during the Vietnam War. Following an honorable discharge from the Army, Ricky returned home and began a life of hard work, service to community and most importantly, a life center around his family.

Ricky's working career began with Sooner Rock where he spent fifteen years as a supervisor. After Sooner Rock closed, he and Anita owned and operated Sooner BBQ in Davis for several years. His final years of employment were with Sooner Foods Grocery in Davis, where he spent nineteen years as the store manager. There was something about the name Sooner that obviously attracted him. One might think he was an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan. In addition to all his other full-time jobs, Ricky worked part-time for the Super C Mart in Davis, which he and his family managed and worked at for many years.

Ricky devoted twenty-three years of service to the Davis Fire Department. His time there created numerous lifelong friendships that have been carried on for generations.

Ricky, like the rest of his family, was very quick witted, a master prankster and notorious for keeping those around him laughing. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, his family always came first in his life. However, it has been questioned that his dog "Louise" may have been a little superior to his family. He cherished time with his family and camping.

Survivors include his daughter, Becky McCurtain & husband Darryl; his son, Justin Roady & wife Bree; three grandchildren, Makenzie Taylor & husband Doug, Kaden McCurtain & Landen McCurtain; one brother, Rodney Roady & wife Michelle; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ricky was preceded in death by one brother, Randy Roady, and two sisters, Sandra (Roady) Day and Latoye (Roady) Eldred.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kaden McCurtain, Landen McCurtain, Doug Taylor, Dylan Roady, Trae Roady and Nixon Roady. Honorary bearers will be both active and retired members of the Davis Fire Department.
