Sally Ann (Yarbrough) Southerland Lewis

Sally Ann Southerland Lewis, 73, of Davis, Oklahoma, passed away on June 5, 2026, in Ada, Oklahoma.

A memorial service will be held at Hales Funeral Home in Davis, Oklahoma, on June 12th at 11:00 AM, with longtime family friend Rev. Lawrence Anderson officiating.

Sally was born on June 28, 1952, in Gainesville, Texas, to John Yarbrough and Shirley (McMakin) Townsend. She was raised in Marietta and grew up on a street surrounded by family and cousins who were more like siblings. She graduated from Marietta High School with the Class of 1970 and later attended Oklahoma State University.

While attending college, Sally met Danny Southerland in Ringling, Oklahoma. They married and shared 24 years together until his passing. To this union, one son, their pride and joy, Travis, was born.

Sally began her career with Ringling Sportswear and dedicated decades to the company. Through her hard work and leadership, she advanced to Assistant Plant Manager of the Marietta facility, where she remained until the plant closed and operations were relocated to Mexico.

On May 5, 2006, Sally married John Lewis, and together they made their home in Davis. She enjoyed taking long drives on back roads with John and spending time on their porch among her flowers while watching the birds.

Sally loved traveling throughout the United States and Europe with family, friends, and the Chickasaw Elders Travel Club. She especially enjoyed her annual trips to Anna Maria Island with her sister and cousins. Family was the center of her life, and she treasured every gathering, celebration, and opportunity to spend time with those she loved.

One of Sally's greatest joys was caring for her grandson, Creed, while his parents worked, and later attending his and Payton's activities and milestones. Before her health declined, she enjoyed visiting casinos and was known for her extraordinary luck, winning both a Chevrolet truck and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

A devoted public servant, Sally served as a Marietta city councilwoman and was actively involved in community affairs. She was also a member of Global Methodist Church in Davis and loved her Lord Jesus Christ.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, John Lewis of Davis; her son, Travis Southerland and wife Tasha of Ardmore; her grandchildren, Payton Hill and husband Cody of Davis, and Creedan Southerland of Ardmore; her great-granddaughter, Carter Hill; her sister, Diane Yarbrough Boland of Ardmore; her nephews, Barry Boland and wife Ragan of Dallas, Texas, and Jay Boland of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends from the Lewis and Southerland families.

Sally was preceded in death by her first husband, Danny Jack Southerland; her mother, Shirley Townsend; and her father, John Yarbrough as well as her in-laws Norman and Juanita Lewis

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Washita Valley Living Center in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Sally and her family.
