Sherry Richburg Nelson

Sherry Richburg-Nelson was born March 14, 1965 in Oklahoma City to the late Donald Ray & Patsy Lee McCollum. She died Sunday, January 13, 2019 in Duncan, at the age of 53.

Sherry grew up in Davis, graduating from Davis High School in 1983. Following high school, she and Joe Don Richburg were married on August 4, 1984. From this union were born two children Taylor Dawn and Garrett. Joe Don preceded her in death in May 2008. On July 8, 2012 Sherry and Steven Craig Nelson were married in Estes Park, CO. They made their home in Duncan. Sherry loved to be outdoors and camping. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband Craig; daughter Taylor Richburg of Sulphur; son Garrett Richburg of Oklahoma City; step-son Chris Nelson of Royse City, Texas; two grandchildren, Kaden Cleveland and Raigann Richburg; two sisters, Deena Williams & husband Gerald of Duncan and Melissa Tiger & husband Kevin of Davis; her twin brother, Kerry McCollum & wife Peggy of Wynnewood; nieces and nephews, Danin Gugino, Drake and Kale Tiger, Mykella Molina and Justin, Brandon and Derek McCollum; father-in-law, Don Nelson of Duncan; and sister-in-law, Pam Alexander & husband Charlie of Duncan.

Sherry was preceded in death by her parents; husband Joe Don Richburg; one brother, Donald Ray McCollum, JR; and one nephew, Bryson Dennis.

Services will be held 2:00PM Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Davis, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr officiating. Burial will be at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur.
