Steven Keith Carter was born October 5, 1957 in Norman, OK to Gene and Patsy (Russell) Carter. He died Wednesday, October 10, 2018 in Bentonville, AR, at the age of 61 years and 5 days. Steven and Denise L. Hatch were married on August 12, 1980 in Salt Lake City, UT.
Steven graduated from Norman High School in 1975. He later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from East Central University in Ada, OK. Steven spent 20 years working as a Computer Programmer Analysts for the home office of Wal-Mart. At the time of his death he was employed by Bossa Nova Robotics Inc, of Bentonville.
Steven was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a two-year mission in Venezuela for his church. As an Eagle Scout, serving as a Scoutmaster, Steven completed an expedition to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. In his spare time, he enjoyed singing, playing the guitar and violin and was currently learning to play the banjo.
Survivors include his wife Denise; three sons, Jonathan Carter & wife Sasha, Benjamin Carter and Nathaniel Carter, all of Bentonville; two daughters, Stephanie Carter of Bentonville and Melissa Wells & husband Jacob of Prairie Grove, AR; mother, Patsy Carter of Davis, OK; two grandsons, Oliver & Thomas Wells; as well as two brothers, David Carter of Davis, OK and Phillip Carter & wife JuLene of Pauls Valley, OK.
Steven was preceded in death by his father Preston E. “Gene” Carter and one grandson, Samuel Wells.
