W.A. "Dub" Moore Jr.

W. A. “Dub” Moore was born October 11, 1939, in Portales, NM, to the late Walter Alton & Gladys Lucille (Christian) Moore. Following a life devoted to Jesus Christ, family and service to others, Dub passed peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, in Oklahoma City, surrounded by his beloved family. Dub was eighty-six years old.

Dub grew up in Portales, graduating from Portales High School, Class of 1957. While in high school, he excelled in sports, especially football. Following high school, Dub continued his education at Eastern New Mexico University earning multiple degrees in business. While attending college, Dub was on scholarship to play football and was the starting quarterback. He and Patsy Ruth Fuller married on August 14, 1959, in Causey, New Mexico. This union was blessed with two daughters, the first, Donna LaVoy Moore on January 1, 1961, and on October 19, 1962, their second daughter, Laura Lee (Moore) Karlik.

Dub and Pat moved from Portales to Big Spring, Texas in 1962 with Dub working for Phillips 66. In 1993, the family relocated to Davis, OK where Dub was involved with a Banking Holding Company, owning First National Bank of Davis. Throughout his years in Davis, Dub was very active with several civic groups, and the Davis Chamber of Commerce. One of his most favorite groups to be a part of and to support was the Davis FFA and 4-H  students. Seeing young people succeed always brought much joy to his life. After retiring Dub and Pat moved to Ardmore, OK.

In addition to his many years in the oil and gas industry and banking, Dub enjoyed ranching and was an avid runner participating in many marathons. His favorite activities included spending time with his beloved wife Pat and his daughters, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  As a member of the Choctaw Nation, Dub was very proud of his native heritage. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Pat; two daughters, Donna LaVoy Moore of Ardmore, and Laura Lee Karlik & husband Casey of Davis; six grandchildren, Hunter Karlik & wife Paige, Peyton Karlik & her companion Brandon Salter, Rachel Roe, and Katherine Mannon & husband Michael, Hollye (Karlik) Godfrey & husband Stephen; Britney (Karlik) Ratto & husband Bo; five great-grandchildren, Landon & Kaydon Salter, Cason Roe, and Mia & Cooper Mannon; as well as a nephew, Ronnie Reed & wife Linda. Dub will also be greatly missed by his beloved Jack Russell Terrier, Milo.

In addition to his parents, Dub was preceded in death by three sisters, Baby Kay Moore, Barbara Sue (Moore) Gentry and Rebecca Lou (Moore) Leone; and his brother, Ronald Mac “Ronnie” Moore.

The Moore family wishes to give a very special thanks to his many caregivers, the staff at Integris Baptist Hospital in OKC and the loving nurses at Integris Health Hospice House who were so caring during this difficult time.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026, at the Church of Christ on Merrick Drive, in Ardmore. Elder and friend, Ron Benedick will officiate the service.

Services have been placed in the care of Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis, Oklahoma.
